What is an industry chain map?

An industry chain map lays out how an industry actually produces value — from end applications back through system assembly, components, equipment and raw materials. Value is never evenly spread along a chain: a handful of segments capture most of the profit, while busy-looking ones earn thin margins for years. Seeing the structure first is how you tell them apart.

How to use these maps

Every map opens as an interactive tree. Click a node to expand its sub-segments or collapse them again; solid lines are breakdown relationships, dashed arrows mark supply and enablement links that cross branches. The detail panel shows what each segment does, its type — component, material, equipment, chip or system — and the key companies operating in it. Search jumps straight to any segment or company name. Below each map, the full structure is also written out as text, so it reads well on phones and stays searchable.

What is covered

The atlas currently spans artificial intelligence, humanoid robotics, commercial space, electric vehicles and semiconductor equipment, unfolded to the equipment and materials level. Maps are curated from public research and industry consensus, reviewed by hand, and updated as segment structures shift. New chains are added over time, and the insights blog records what is changing and why it matters.
